Gingko biloba is a popular herbal supplement mainly used as a memory and concentration enhancer and as a possible treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease. However, a recent study found that gingko biloba causes cancer in laboratory animals. The National Toxicology Program of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) found evidence that Gingko biloba caused liver cancer in rats and possible may cause thyroid cancer as well. It is advisable to stay away from this supplement and to make sure that it is not added to any foods or multivitamins that you take.
