Two years ago, President Obama signed a new food safety law due to the outbreaks of foodborne illnesses in the US. However, the law has failed to be implemented due to limited resources in both funds and personnel. Some of the new regulations went into effect immediately, such as increased plant inspections and mandatory recalls. However, other measures , such as stricter inspection of foreign imports, will not be available for months. These delays increase the chance that people may get sick or seriously ill from further outbreaks.
