High Protein Diet Aids Sleep

A new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition looked at how diet affects sleep patterns. All subjects were put on a low calorie diet and divided into a normal protein group and a high protein group. The researchers found that people that consumed the diet higher in protein had a better quality of sleep, regardless of the weight lost. This study shows that not only does sleep affect health and weight loss, but the types of foods eaten affects the quality of sleep. Sleep has been shown to be linked to metabolic and cardiovascular issues.
