Social Media May Lead to Poor Body Image

Women have struggled with body image issues for decades, and much of this can be attributed to  comparing themselves to the "perfect" women portrayed in magazines and on television. Now, a new study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health shows that social media, such as Facebook, may also play a role in how women view their bodies and may also lead to these women starting risky diets. It seems that women who spent more time on Facebook were more likely to compare themselves to their friends' bodies by studying the pictures posted. This lead to poor body image and dangerous dieting in order to lose weight. Hopefully, women will learn to be more accepting of their bodies and strive to look their best for themselves, without worrying about how anyone else looks.
