Blood Sugar Blues

Blood sugar issues can wreak havoc on the body, even if you do not have diabetes. Blood sugar stability is imperative for weight loss, detoxification, hormone issues, and every system in the body since blood sugar is the energy or raw ingredient needed for all metabolic functions.

After we eat a meal that contains carbohydrates, insulin is released into the bloodstream by the pancreas to deliver glucose to the cell and then store the extra glucose as fat. The more carbs you eat, the more insulin is released. Over time, these high insulin levels lead to cells decrease their sensitivity to insulin, which then leads to insulin resistance.

When the cells become resistant to insulin, the cells don’t get the glucose they need and have less energy. Additionally, the glucose remains outside the cell, which causes inflammation. This causes sweet cravings and being tired, especially after a meal. Addition, the inflammation leads to brain fog, weight gain and belly fat.

Food and supplements can help control blood sugar levels. Increase the intake of healthy fats, protein and fiber and remove sugar and processed carbs. At first, small frequent meals may help with blood sugar regulation with the goal of intermittent fasting, which has many blood sugar benefits.
