Blood Types Diets Not Supported by Science

Many people have heard of the blood type diet outlined in the popular book "Eat Right 4 Your Type," by Peter D'Adamo. The premise is that a person's blood type is central to health. He recommends different diets for each blood type (A, B, AB, O) and states that if you follow a diet designed specifically for your blood group, you will lose weight and decrease your risk of chronic diseases. Many doctors and dietitians have long refuted these claims due to lack of scientific support. Recently, a Belgian researcher attempted to find research supporting the blood type claim, and he examined 1415 articles relating to the topic. Only one of these 1415 articles was strong enough to be included in the meta-analysis, and this study had many weaknesses. In conclusion, at this time, there is no evidence to support the fact that Blood Type Diets may benefit your health, and consumers should avoid this fad diet until more research is done on the subject.
