Prenatal DHA and Low Birth Weight

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study conducted by researchers at the University of Kansas. They found that mothers who prenatally took took 600 mg of DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, had fewer babies born earlier than 34 weeks, had babies that weighed more at birth, and had infants that were less likely to be a very low birth rate. This shows that supplementation of DHA may be very beneficial during pregnancy.
