The Benefits of a Bath

In our structured and hectic schedules, we often quickly get ready in the morning by jumping in a nice, hot shower. Showers are great, but when is the last time you took a long relaxing bath? The mindset behind taking a bath and taking a shower is completely different, and baths are recommended to decrease anxiety and to help detoxification.A study published last year showed that people that took baths on a regular basis had a lower risk of CVD. Additionally, research shows that those who bathe frequently have fewer issues falling asleep and better sleep quality. Other benefits include improved breathing, better glucose control and decreased inflammation. When you soak in a bath, your blood vessels dilate, which increases blood flow and the distribution of oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. This leads to improvements in mental health and stress and may help with tension anxiety, depression and fatigue. Additionally, adding Epsom salts to a bath adds magnesium and helps detoxify the body.So this year, make your resolution self-care, and include a bath twice a week to improve both your physical and mental health
