Cinnamon Benefits

Cinnamon is a common spice found in our pantries and used in many recipes for its sweet taste. The 2 types of cinnamon most commonly sold are cassia and ceylon. Ceylon is more rare and more expensive than cassia. One of the most active ingredients in cinnamon is cinnamaldehyde, which is responsible for its antioxidant properties.

Cinnamon has been shown to help with blood sugar levels and it has anti-bacterial and microbial properties. Cinnamon has also been shown to relieve inflammation, promote heart health, stabilize blood sugar, decrease cancer risk, prevent cognitive decline and boost the immune system.

Eating 1 tsp a day of cinnamon has been shown to make improvements. You can add it to foods or coffee or take it as a supplement.
