What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition most commonly associated with whole body pain and fatigue. Roughly 10 million people in the US suffer from fibromyalgia, which can be extremely debilitating.  Other common symptoms of fibromyalgia include IBS, Raynaud's, headaches, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, depression and brain fog.One treatment for fibromyalgia is to follow a low FODMAP diet, which is a diet common for IBS patients which can help decrease inflammation by reducing certain fermentable carbohydrates. Additionally, processed foods and foods with additives should be avoided.As far as supplements, magnesium, fish oil, vitamin D and turmeric and ashwagandha have been shown to alleviate symptoms. Additionally, regular exercise, massage, reiki and acupuncture may improve fibromyalgia symptoms. Mind body practices such as yoga and meditation can also help reduce symptoms
