Food Sensitivities and Brain Fog
Brain fog is defined as a set of symptoms that affect your ability to think. It is not a medical condition. Some of these symptoms include irritability, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, low energy, confusion and forgetfulness, sleep issues, lack of motivation, anxiety and depression. While there are many causes of brain fog, food sensitivities can play a role. Food sensitivities affect the microbiome in the GI tract. Sensitivities cause an inflammatory response, which affects nutrient absorption, digestion, and hormone production. These affects every cell in our body, including the brain and can cause brain fog.The first step when you suspect food sensitivities is trying a gluten and dairy free diet or a full elimination diet, which cuts out must allergens. It is ideal to do this or 3-6 weeks to see any change in symptoms.
