Medicinal Mushrooms

Mushroom powders, mushroom coffee,  and mushrooms in general are getting a great deal of attentions in the holistic arena. There are actually over 14,000-20,000 different species of mushrooms. Mushrooms are a fungi which are generally low in carbohydrates and calories. They are also rich in fiber, protein, selenium, and B vitamins.  Popular edible mushroom varieties include cordyceps, reishi, chaga, lion's mane, turkey tail, morel, wood ear, cremini, shiitake, enoki and portobello.Mushrooms are anti-inflammatory and have been shown to boost immunity by improving the gut microbiome and enhancing the cell-mediated immune response. Additionally, medicinal mushrooms have been shown to increase energy, protect against cancer, improve heart health, and improve stress and brain function.When possible, eat organic mushrooms,  eat in general, eat organic when possible. Additionally, be careful eating mushrooms if you have gout or issues with uric acid and if you are pregnant, ask your doctor before supplementing with any mushrooms.
